My son cut his finger pretty bad... Hospital?

He picked up a can which the lid was still inside and sliced the tip of his finger pretty bad. It's more side ways then deep but the bleeding was still going at 10 minutes. Dave's been putting pressure on it since and keeping it above his heart. Not sure if it is still going.
Because it is on his finger it's obviously going to bleed with use. Should I take him in? Would they stitch it because it is highly used?
I swear my last kid will be the death of me. He has had more injuries in his 2 years then all of my kids put together.

If the bleeding stops, I wouldn't take him. Hands/fingers usually bleed a lot when cut. If the bleeding continues, it would be safe to take him in. Little boys are crazy creatures!

I cut across the top of my finger. I had to get five stitches. The bleeding wouldn't stop and I was bleeding through a wad of paper towels.

If it is bleeding after 10 minutes with direct pressure, take him in for stitches. My DD did a similar thing, but sliced the whole pad off her finger (it was dangling) and it took 6 stitches to reattach it.
