i took in my brother when he was 16, he ALWAYS told me where he was going and ALWAYS checked in with me, he acted like an adult, he got treated like one.
your sister needs to know what is expected of her, and although the sign idea is clever, maybe for a 10 year old but at 16 i would be finding another way to get my point across. maybe one time you disappear for a day without telling her where you are, make her worry for once. i know i hated that when my mom did that to me.

I don't think time out would work. I guess she made plans to go to this friends house on Thursday so I told her she can't go, she can't get on the computer, and she's stuck with me 24/7 for the remainder of her stay.
