potty training my 2.5 year old

I have been trying to potty train my 2.5 year old on and off ... I finally decided I will just wait until he is ready and showed more signs.. well today he was in a diaper, he grabbed himself and said "mommy peepee" so i took him to the bathroom and sat on his potty and he peed.....and i rewarded him and he was so happy and proud.. well then afterwards (like an hour later) he grabbed himself and said peepee but took off running to his room and i told him lets go to the potty and peepee like a big boy .. he refused... he held it for about another 30 minutes, then i saw him take off to his room and he peed on the floor. (he was in underwear)

How do i deal with this? whats the next step?

Sometimes,kids get scared it's a big step for them.But it sounds that you are doing just fine.Just remind him when he does things like peeing in his panties that you don't get rewarded for that only big boys do

Thats what i have been doing! but do you think I should just keep him in underwear now and skip the diapers (except for nap and night time )?

with my son, we sterted potty training when he was 2.5 he was potty tained before his 3rd birthda, we went in the bathroom and he would sit on his toilet and we would just wait till he had to go, he would try some times and he would cry at others, one night my husband went in there with a cup of water and he waited on that toilet till Gabe went pee, we threw such a big deal about it and he just continued to go pee, pooping took a little while but he got it, and he was just done after that no more diapers

well now my son runs to his room and hides when he wants to pee. so i run after him and tell him lets go sit on the potty, he throws a fit, today he held his for about 3.5 hours because he refused to go on the potty... i really dont know what to do right now except cry..
yesterday he did the same thing..held for hours (only went twice yesterday the entire day)

from what my mom said (she has 5 kids) sometimes you have to wait till they are ready, its seems like he has interest in using the potty but isnt quite sure if its something hes ready to do, Gabe did it too. It will get easier I promise. oh I remember telling him this (it worked for my older sister) if he pees in his spiderman underwear spiderman will bite his pee pee. I know it sounds very harsh and cruel to say to a child but I remember my mom telling me that my sister never once went pee in the little mermaid cause she didnt want to get bit, gabe never had an accident with his spiderman undies, I told him because he was more of an independent child that if he wants to use his toilet he can but Im not going to clean up his mess if he goes in his pants. I think he was just ready. Ive heard the cheerrios trick sticking them in the potty and telling him to pee on them (Aiming) works. I hear that little boys are little harder to train too. have you tried rewarding him?

I used pullups with my daughter until she got good at it for about week,then only during bedtime.I did that for just little while and now shes potty trained but i still have her go bathroom or try before bed and naps and shes only had 1problem
