Orange/red urine?
posted 3rd Jul '12
I'm 12 weeks pregnant today. I was extremely sick this morning and threw up 5 times before taking Zofran and feeling better. I drank water and Gatorade and some ginger ale today after that. Now, my head is pounding, I'm nauseas again and I just peed and it was dark orangey-red. I didn't eat or drink anything that should change the color (it was lemon lime Gatorade). I'm also not taking prenatals or any other vitamins right now because they were making me sick. I'm out of town and can't really go to the dr or anything, (ER if I had to). Wwyd?

If nothing you ate or drink could change the color, I would be going to the dr or at least calling the OB and asking what they think you should do.

That sounds like it may be a bladder infection or you are very dehydrated. Either way you need to get to the doctor and get checked out.

its likely just dark from dehydration. just keep drinking as much as you can and keep watching it

ER now. Could be kidneys or dehydration. I rarely suggest er but that's not something to smurf around with

Not something I should wait and call about tomorrow? I'm pretty prone to UTI's/kidney infections. I think that may be what this is, I keep having to pee really bad and hardly anything comes out.

Like in the morning tomorrow? That would be okay but I wouldn't wait a few days.

Yeah. It's 11 pm here, so assuming I don't get any worse I'll just call when I wake up. Except... Shoot. Tomorrow is July 4th. I don't know if they're open...

I think you'll be fine if you keep drinking a lot of liquids. I've gotten a fever twice this pregnancy and had the same thing happen to me and the baby is fine
Good luck and I hope you start feeling better soon!

Go to the hospital. It could be nothing but it can be kidney related! I am in the medical field and would say it's best to be safe. It can be dehydration, UTI but since you arent taking vitamins (they can change the color of urine) and unless you have had certain vegetables/foods that can change the color of urine I'd say get checked out.
