WHAT DO U THINK?? C SECTION OR NATURAL BIRTH?

posted 10th May
i was so up for the vaginal birth with a epidural, the thought of people looking at my area did not really bother me but the pain does. Now everyone i know who just had a baby this year said they had a c- section and they liked how it didnt take hours. I dont know which one im thinking bout now. i dont know the pros and cons of both and which is best for me? I really want to hold my baby on my chest after the birth rather than my organs being removed while im awake and scared.

ANY SUGGESTIONS.?

I don't think you can "pick" to have a c-section unless the dr feels it's necessary. It's a MAJOR operation, with MAJOR recovery time.

A normal vaginal birth (with or without epi) will have a much easier recovery for you.

You usually don't have a choice. Drs. don't like to preform c-sections just because. Not to mention healing time is quicker with a vaginal birth and less can usually go wrong.

You do not have a choice that I am aware of.

I wouldn't recommend a C- section unless necessary. Most doctors won't do elected C-sections either. With a C-section it's harder brest feed because the baby lies on your incision, there's a bigger risk of infection ( I know several moms that have) and it takes longer to heal so you can't get back to your prepregnancy bady as fast! Truth Labor sucks but being pregnant for 9 months sucks worse and you lasted through that, whats a couple of hours of pain after that! When are you due?

For me, I'm going to try and do it natural with an epi. The thought of someone slicing my belly open scares the crap out of me. I guess though, that is because I've never had any surgery or even broken a bone....

About the pain, my mom said once you have the baby and you're holding her in your arms for the first time you forget about all of the pain. I'm going to try to keep that in mind while I'm in labor haha.

I had a c-section, and I would not suggest having one unless you have too! It may be quick, but the healing time is a lot longer. I was still feeling it when I went to work 6 weeks later. I'm just now feeling better, and my daughter is 6 1/2 months old now. I would try to do vag, if you can!

LOL that the least of their worries   especially seeing as its more likely that they will get an infection, harder to recover, troubles breastfeeding.. the list is endless.. damn australia for letting them choose

but seriously I hate teens like that, but then again i also dislike the teens who are like "omg i cant breastfeed because i only want my 'husband' to suck my nipples ever!! non some baby" >.< gah

i'm pretty sure you can not just tell your dr you want a c-section. there has to be an emergency or medical purpose first. most of the time you or the baby is in danger. i might have to have one because of some health issues and i'm scared shitless. i'm really hoping to go natural with a possible epi. i think you should just read up on both that way if you HAVE to have a c-section...it won't freak you as much. but otherwise...enjoy the fact that you will probably have a healthy, normal, and natuarl birth.

I think you should try and have a vaginal birth with or with out the epidural. I recovered from mine in no time. And I really doubt a doc will let you have a c-section just because you want one.

i think n e one who chooses c section just for the hell of it is stupid! y would u want major surgery and have a hard time trying to raise your baby while u recover unless there was a "need"??
natural birth hurts yes but as soon as the baby is out u forget all pain and u can get to looking after your baby straight away
