Sometimes it's if they go to college they still have to pay... I don't get it.

Yep! I am getting it and my bd isn't on the birth certificate. If he proves paternity and acknowledges the kid as his then he has to pay and, even if he doesn't and she says he is the father they will just do a DNA test.

yeah,thats how it is here in MD. My dd was 1 when i filed and it took 4mo to get a court date. The court order payments back the 4mo since i had filed but not the 12mo b4 since the child was born.
