When your kids drive you absolutly nuts

posted 3rd Jul '12
what do you do?

I feel bad because I told DD to go play in her room. All day she has been driving me crazy. Jumping off of stuff(even when I told her NO 10 billion times. Torturing the cat(which I have told her NO every day forever), messing up everything I manage to clean, popping balloons, asking me to make her something to eat, eating a few bites and then saying shes done, and the same with drinks. ETC ETC.. all day long. IDK. For some reason today she is just driving me crazy, and she wouldn't take a nap today. I just sent her to her room to play, which she is. I just need 5 seconds of time when I do not have to say, "NO" or "STOP THAT" or "GO TO TIME OUT". We have had two talks today where I asked her why she is acting this way, and she has no answer.

So, I am just curious, what do you do with your kids when they just drive you insane??

I duct tape them to the wall. Lol jk

I usually take my kids outside or on a walk then they can burn off some energy.

Isn't this what cages are for?
I let them play outside. They will ride their bikes or play with the hose usually.

How old is she? To me, it sounds like normal toddler behavior.

Anywho, when my kids are driving me crazy, I spend a few minutes in my room alone to gather myself. It's a lot easier to reason with them when I'm calmed down.

Send them out back   Or ask them to play in their room for a little bit so we can _____ (Walk to the park usually, but something fun to reward them for"helping me" get some stuff done lol)

Take them to do something else.
When my kids act like that it's most always because I've had them in the house for a few hours and they're getting antsy.

This, as well. My kids can't stand being cooped up.

She is 3.5... I don't know when toddler years technically end, but she never acts like this. You would think she would be wiped out since she has been acting crazy since 7AM and not had a nap and its now 5PM here.. she has been acting like this for 10 STRAIGHT HOURS. Now SO is home, and he just tends to rile her up more. Looks like its time to go to the park or something/

It sounds like your LO is bored. So I would I make one of these:
And then go for a walk, walk to the park or i'll take him out to swim or pick some sort of energy draining activity. I have to keep my son busy or he'll drive me nuts. Wear him out & I can get housework or other stuff done after he goes to bed.
