re: Mirena Birth Control

I loved my mirena! I only had it for a year before we decided to try for our 2nd and final baby. I got it out the beginning of December and found out I was pregnant in March. I was thrilled because it took me 4 years after getting off the depo shot to get pregnant with my first. There is a chance to get pregnant on any birth control so that shouldn't be something you use to rule something out because it would rule out every form of birth control. I have a problem remembering to take a pill thats why that wasn't an option and hated the depo because I gained some weight and it took forever to get pregnant after plus I bled for a month straight. With Mirena I had some minor problems with bleeding (it was more spotting) and was given a low estrogen pill to take for 14 days and that fixed the issues I had. I also have an estrogen intolerance so most bc makes me sick but I didn't have that problem with mirena.

well what works for 1 person doesn't work for everyone. I've heard lots of bad things about it. But I've heard lots of bad things about every form of bc. I love my Mirena, no problems so far.

I love my Mirena. I had it for 18 months after I had DS, then had it taken out to try for baby number two. I got pregnant 2 weeks after having it taken out. After having DD, I got Mirena again and have had it for the second time for 1 year now. I plan on keeping it in for the whole 5 years.

I've never had any problems with it. If you decide on it, ask them if they'll do a sono while inserting it. My doctors office does this now to make sure it goes in the exact correct spot. Also if your SO can feel the wire "string" then you just need to go in and get it cut shorter.. but I never had that problem.

[My issue is after my 6 week appointment whatever birth control i decide on is gonna have to be what im on for a good little bit because i wont have insurance anymore untill SO can get insurance through his work which will be for a good little bit because he is still waiting to find out if he got this job or not

I used to love my Mirena. I heard women say they couldn't lose weight with it, but it's not a problem for me, and i don't have a period!!! The only reason i dislike it now is because i have gotten a few complaints that it pokes guys' penis heads ):
