Nope. Some break before labor starts, others break during labor or pushing. Sometimes, your doctor will break your water during labor, but it's not a requirement. They broke mine right before I started pushing. Also, some babies are born "in the caul," which means the the water didn't break at all.

Im ready but not emotionally, im so worried about not parenting good enough

they broke mine because of the way she was my cwevix was to the right of my opening i had lay on my left side yah it hurt like a bitch and me and my nurse screamed for like 45 minutes i told her i could not do it haha. I put her threw hell i felt bad because i then went to the OR and they had to do alot more work.

what if im not dialted at 37 wks

Some dont dialate until they go into labor

I was miserable after they broke my water, too! I wanted it to break on my own, but I was having the urge to push and I was only 7 cm. My water bag was keeping me from dilating all the way. DD was born about 40 minutes after. I think. lol. The details at that point got a little fuzzy...

A lot of women aren't dilated at 37 weeks. Some go from closed to labor very fast. I started dilating at 37 weeks, but I didn't have DD until 40w 5d. You still have several weeks til your due date, so there's plenty of time.

Okay heres mine sorry op not to scare you once i was on that side i dilated fast i still had lip left but had the urge to push so they let me well once i delivered they stopped the pit and i dont contract with out it so i did deliver the plecenta so i have 5 different doctors elbow deep in my vag screaming to stop and them thinking i was making up pain the one doctor riped it and said i think theres blood behind it, does she not have an epi? Nurse NO...   go get 3 MG of porhpine and take her to the OR also call for blood from the blood bank, i ended up needing 2 units.

with my first i bled for 6 weeks had a few days break and started a period my lady part hurt so bad hurt to sit that lasted a while and then to poop omg I cried the first poop after i had my son it was 3 day pp.

with my second only bled for 2 weeks and never got a period after im bf and no pain i was back to normal after.

what I did to sleep and not worry about leaking on the bed or anything i got adult diapers and placed a pad in the middle for extra protection and it was better then worring about a pad moving or anything.
