Working out question

Would you do cario (running) and weight training in the same day? I've always heard to switch out daily. I was planning to go to the gym and do weights tonight, but I got some bad news yesterday about my sons tumor and decided to run this morning to have my screaming moment without actually screaming. Is it ok to still lift weights, or is that over doing it? Sorry, I am new to working out, and basically know nothing about what good to do.

I usually do it all in the same day.

Good. I was just making sure there wasn't a reason people say to break it up.

I only lift 3 times a week (when I'm working out properly) - and I focus on a different zone of the body for each (I usually go upperbody/arms, core, and legs).
I do cardio every time I go to the gym. I do my lifting afterwards, as kind of a treat, because I like that better than running.

Alright. Yeah, I hate lifting weights, but I like feeling it the next day.
I use to love running, but I had heart issues growing up & just couldn't do it anymore. But now that I'm more healthy, I use it as like a.. stress relief? Idk, but I guess I'll start doing both a few days a week and then just running the other days.

I do it in the same workout, just for the last 15 minutes or so.

I do cardio for an hour, then afterwards spend 30-40 mins on weight machines.

my gym has me on a workout routine that i start out with 10 minutes of warm up cardio. then do my weight training for 25-30 minutes then 20 minutes of intense cardio. if you do ab workouts do it in between the weights and cardio
