Birth control Help?!

posted 3rd Jul '12
So, I don't want another baby for at least 3+ years, I have had a million and two issues with the pill! I want something the doctor can put it and leave I don't want to have to worry about it. I have been on 5-6 pills and they were all to much for my body. I just needed a plain pill nothing to stop my periods or with a lot of added hormones. So what's a good kind of put in and forget about it birth control, that fits that description?! Sorry I know confusing!

If you don't want added hormones, I would suggest the IUD paraguard. It's like Mirena, but hormone free. I think all you do is check monthly to make sure it's still there.

nope but my mother had one and she liked it. Seems like you have trouble with hormonal birth control and the IUD is non hormonal and lasts up to 10 years BUT you should always use some form of back up BC like condoms or spermicide because no BC is 100%. You can get pregnant with an IUD and there are risks..but thats goes for every BC on the market.

It seems like a good fit for me!
I think I'll ask my OB about it when I go in.

Thanks everyone!

It doesn't work for everyone, but I could never do the copper t as it typically causes increased menstration and pain. The mirena does have hormones but they are localized to your vagina, they're mainly used by people who have had heavy periods or severe cramping. My body rejected mine after 8 months but the dr's confirmed that it was my bodies was of saying it was ready to carry a child, as I got pregnant right away and am able to carry to term which I was told would never happen.

It wasn't pleasant getting it out in, or the rejection but I'm getting another one after I give birth that's how much I loved it

if she can't handle the pill then she won't even be handle the mirena...
my body is highly sensitive to hormones and I couldn't even handle the nuvaring. My OB didn't suggest mirena to me. He said the paraguard was the only one that would work if i wanted something to put in and forget about. Otherwise he had nothing else so I decided to go the natural route, with family planning and the today sponge and for me it works like a charm and has been for 3 years and hopefully it'll keep working for another 6years lol

One more question; I have cramps very bad when I'm not on the pill. Like, can't move for days because of cramps. Does the Copper iud help that?

It says it doesn't do anything to your cycle, so I don't think it will help cramps. http://www.paragard.com/is-it-right-for-me/FAQs.aspx
