Choroid Plexus Cyst

So they found one of these on my baby girls's brain today at my level II ultrasound. The doctor really shook me up when he told me this is a sympton of Trisomy 18. I asked to see the genetic councler at the hospital. She's really sweet and asured me that the baby has no other symptoms of that defect and my blood work was excellent. 1 out of 10,000 on both screenings for trisomy 18. They didn't reccommend amnio or follow up ultrasounds for the cysts, but offered me amnio if I wanted it. I chose not to because of the risk for miscarrige. The baby's gonna come out in 4 months regardless of what the test will say anyway and there is nothing I can do if the baby has Trisomy 18.. so why risk it. I read that a lot of babies develop these cysts in the 2nd trimester and they don't harm the fetus. If anyone wants to read an article about it, here is a really good one.

During the ultrasoundwith my son, they found 2 of these. The doctor said they were very common, and that they usually don't worry too much. In fact, she only would write down the name of it if I promised not to research it. They followed up with another ultrasound 5 weeks later, and everything was perfect. Actually the more I read about these cysts, the better I feel about it. It's funny cause that's usually the other way around! Sometimes I'm ok with it and other times my imagination runs away with terrible thoughts. I wish that I could see my baby and know that she's ok. I'm sure she is but it's hard to wait. I still refuse to get amnio.
