I will not be a bad mother because of my age.

posted 2nd Jul '12
People really make me mad, looking at me like I'm a screw up. Taking behind my back, and telling me I can't be a good mother because I am young. What proof is there that because I am sixteen I can't be a good mom? If you can't give me an answer to that, please keep your comments to yourself. I'm sick of hearing "well whats best for the baby?" I have dreamt about being married and becoming a mother since I was little, playing with baby dolls. It comes natural to me. I have been through hell and back, and I have learned many lessons along the way. From the time my pregnancy result came back positive, I have loved the little being thats growing inside me. I am protective, and loving; and I have an amazing husband that has been here for me every step of the way, and who loves his unborn child more than breath. Being with us, is whats best for our baby. When you're in my situation, you make the choice.. Whats best for your baby?

why must you let other peoples opinions get to you so much? when that happens you ignore it and prove everyone wrong that you can do it.. not much else you can do.you do what you need to do and what you think is best for the child

Nice first post.

Stop caring what other people think of you. You're young. You're 16, pregnant and freaking married. Of course people are going to have something to say. Ignore it.

People react that way because you have no idea what you are getting into. But to be fair, most first time mothers don't, you don't know until you experience it.

Just let it roll off your back and do the best you can do. Finish school, work if you need to, and always put that baby first. It is possible to bounce back from poor decisions, but it's hard. REALLY SmUrfING HARD. Use their negativity as your motivation to be the best damn mom anyone ever met. But be humble, there is a lot you don't know (and that goes for EVERY first time mom) and take advice when it's offered to you. Don't get an attitude about it, you are going to need all the help you can get.

Good for you. Not all teen mothers are bad however there are some that may care about their child but do not take the responsibility for their child. I hope that you will continue your education at least finishing high school if not college and raise your child and not let someone else do that job for you. You are no longer a child but an adult and must take responsibility for your life as well as another being. I have no issues with parents(whether a teenager or a seasoned adult) when they are doing their duties as parents to raise their child. However I do have issues with any and all parents no matter what that refuse to grow up and take responsibility for their creation. So don't classify yourself as a teen mother, you are a mother and that is something that you will now be for life.

btw being married has nothing to do with it so just because a young mother comes on here and preaches oh but im married.. theres still a lot more factors in being a good mom and being able to do it, and provide for your child. things also happen, what if he doesnt stick around? then what will you do? what other support do you have? a job? money saved up? family?
