Especially considering that when your 16, your barely even legal to drive, get a job and you can;t even legally sign a lease or buy car insurance at that age. (I don't think, I could be wrong about the car insurance). I don't see how you can fully care for yourself and your child when you aren't even old enough to legally sign for your own place.

I had mine at 21 too.

If I was a pregnant 16 year old and I knew then what I know now. I wouldn't go through with it. It can be done and you have your success stories here and there, but there's too much responsibility. Way too much....

exactly i didnt even get my license till i was 17 i had a work permit because my mother had a stroke. i got it at 15 and thank goodness my job was up around the corner. so i walked. i worked up until i became pregnant with my first son. who was very sick when he was born. he had sleep apnea i dont understand these kids now days getting pregnant so young. i know it doesnt mean they are going to be horrible parents but everyone i know that has gotten pregnant early around 14 to 17 years old are on welfare... its nuts!

at 21 i was overwhelmed and my husband even. with his crappy job hours. we are thankful tho he makes enough to take care of us without us needing government help.

ugh. just wish parents would educate better. i didnt even think about having kids when i was a teen i was scared smurfless because my mother told me should would kick my ass and beat the crap out of me lol. but i wasnt a trouble maker either. glad i wasnt.

anyways im ranting and raving. i just hope you realize now that things are not going to be easy from now on you will have someone else that you must put before yourself. and the cold meal thing is no joke i swear when ever your hungry they are and when they get older your food is thiers they dont want thier own plate they want what is on yours. so i rarely get a full meal unless we go out to dinner and our son gets his own favorite grapes and other random things he likes.

Be prepared. babies are the most expensive "doll" you will ever have! adn this one again cant be put in a box and sold in a yardsale when you outgrow it.

Yes your parents have to sign for everything unless you're an emancipated minor. I remember i even had to get my mom to co sign my bank account when i started working at 16

I don't even think emancipation is "legal" (or "done") anymore in a lot of states. I know when I moved out (at 16 - I lived in an apartment that my older brother and boyfriend had signed for). I had spoken to a friend of mines father who was a lawyer and he told me that they no longer did "emancipation" in NY.

Better than more dropouts....a program like that made it possible for me to graduate on time with two kids. The school i attended my senior year didnt have one, and that last year was extra smurfing hard. And believe me, i didnt know anyone having a baby simply because that program was in place. The school i initially started in tucked the daycare away in the back corner and lots of students had no idea it was there, and most of the ones who knew thought it was for teachers. The wonderful women running it helped us learn about child development and nutrition, gave us a place to nurse and a bit of time to spend with our babies. It was a wonderful program i am still thankful for. Im glad my potential and education wàsnt wasted because of a lapse in judgement.

That's good, then. I just feel like on Reality TV they try to glamourize it... like when the girls in Mass. made that pregnancy pact. the school had a daycare, and they were stupid enough to be like, hey it won't be bad..

And as we all know, reality tv is about the furthest thing from reality. There are tons of idiot teens getting pregnant for terrible reasons, but a convenient daycare probably doesn't top the list. Leading reasons would be someone cute to love you and trying to keep a guy. My guess anyways.

No young moms are not bad moms. I'm 17 with a 6month old. And if you don't want people to talk smurf you better be doing things on your own with your husband. People talked smurf when my parents was helping me with my daughter but that changed fast. This what I did and if your not doing this then this is a reason people might say negative things.
1.) Get diploma.
2.) Get your own apartment/house.
3.) Pay your own car insurance. (if you have to put it under an adult at least pay for it)
4.) Pay for everything your husband and you need and your child with out mom and dads help.
5.) And attend college so you will have real careers in your future if not do something productive to make money. (I'm going to college in the fall)

My husband I have our own place at the moment and are planning on moving soon. He is getting his GED and I will be going to school until I graduate. I didn't post this to piss people off. You should check out Cafemom.com , there you post in specific groups so if you post in the Teen Moms group, everyone will be like you and you're less likely to get a bunch of haters
