so i just found out my son is disabled but with adhd is this really a disablitie.

its not going to 100 pct disable him.. children with adhd can still do a lot, even as much as other kids just with some difficulties

no...my husband has it, hes not taking anything for it and he is just fine.

It can be a learning disability if severe enough. It won't actually keep him from doing anything if it's treated (IF it needs treated.)

*By treated I'm meaning home remedies, medications, alterations to his schedule to assist....*

all i know is that the columbus city school. is putting him in speical needs preschool and he is 5. they say he is delay he is on a 2 to 3 year old level..he still poops his pants..he has to go tho speech therapy...i think there a little bit more then /ust this. i got the paper work they said he is a 17.5/100 im not sure what that means but sounds pretty bad to me.

well im waiting for a call they do want to put him on adhd meds.

Yes, to a degree. It has the potential to be a learning disability, and may get in the way of other areas of life (playing sports, socializing,etc). But it won't physical dibilitate him.

Was he just diagnosed with ADHD? Not a developmental delay or anything? Yes, that is a disability. It (or something) is holding him back to where he should be.

the person i took him to first says he has adhd. the school says he has a delay about 2 to 3 years old level.

every child w/adhd is affected differently . Some are more severe cases then others so it is really a case by case issue.

If he has ADHD there is ALWAYS another disorder along with it.

Is this proven? I've never heard anything of the sort. And I work with kids with special needs quite often.
