Should there be a limit?

The Dugger Family has been brought up quite a few times throughout the day. I have noticed that some have very strong views on the amount of children in the family.

This debate has been brought on because of the strong responses in these posts; however, this thread is not about any single family. Please do not make reference only to the Duggers, there are other posts about them.

Points being debated and discussed:
Should there be a limit to the amount of children a family can have, if so how many?
What about the nuclear family (half/step siblings, ect)?
If there is a limit how should it be enforced?
Who would enforce it?
What punishment should be given if the said limit is broken?
Should you be allowed to get a waiver?

I think as long as you can financially support all of the children, it shouldn't really matter.

I feel that there should NOT be a limit to the amount of children you are allowed to have.

It's your body, and your right to have as many children as you feel will make your family complete.

The only time I would look down apon a large family-- like more than 6 kids --is if the parents cannot provide for them. If the children are provided for, and continue to go to school, ect, then I see no problem whatsoever.

(I only want two kids, myself, lol.)

They're not in debt, they take good care of all of their kids.....I don't see a problem. I know families with 15, 16 kids. No problems.

ya i just read that a few minutes ago....as long as ur financially stable than hey do what u want...........but if u dont than u are just making things harder on u and ur kids

It's a violation of human rights to limit the amount of children a person can have,although in my opinion,I don't know why anyone would want more children than they could afford.I really don't care wha anyone else does,and don't think it's anyone else's business either as long as the children are properly cared for.

I personally think that it is not fair for all the other children. You cant possibly give the amount of love if you say only had 5 kids. I love children and would have 10 if I could afford it, lol. But on the other hand I couldnt give all my kids equal amount of attention then. And thats not fair. I amworried and I am on my second, hows my Audrey gonna feel with a new baby in the family?

I don't agree with that. My best friend in grade school was one of 14, she would never say that she didn't feel enough love from her parents.

oh.. my grampas brother had 17 kids.. then died.. sad sad.

I personally do not believe that any family should have a limit on how many children a family can have. I do think that the parents should be able to finanically and emotionallysupport how ever many children that they do have.

I wouldnt say there should be a limit but you need to think about the children themselves. How many can they handle because its not just your home its theirs to. Its not about money its about being about to be a full time part to all of them. Being able to take all of them where they need to go and be at important things like games or talent shows or band concerts. 18 kids I wouldnt say is bad but they are ALL close in ages with each other and none of them were relaly given a chance to be the center of attention. I feel every child should have a chance to feel that even if its only for a little while. When another one comes along it shouldnt force the others out of the spot light but rather allow the other to understand the new one needs a little MORE spot light.
