There is not "limit" to the amount of love someone can give so I dont think thats a acurrate discription. I feel its more of how can you be there for them physically instead of just emotionally when you increase the numbers that much and there is always a baby that needs even more attention then anyone else.

Should there be a limit? No. Should people feel a moral and personal responsibility NOT to have 18 kids, yeah, I think so.

I agree. I def dont agree with a limit but your point I agree with.

How is it irresponsible to have a lot of kids if you can afford them, are in a stable relationship, etc. etc?

They spend more time with their kids than most of us who work do.

Our kids are in school for hours at a time or daycare....PLUS they aren't draining society, not on welfare....the kids are well behaved.

I think they are fine.

I don't think we should have any mandated limit. People limit themselves anyway, stories like the Duggars are on the news because they are news. The rest of us have regular 1-5 kid families and no one is the worse off for it.

I don't think that it's anyone else's business, especially the government's, to tell me that I must or must not have children.

What bothers me, and dont get me wrong, it could just be the show, but it seems as though the older children are raising the younger children and its just not fair for all the kids imo. Im sure they get their play time but like someone else has mentioned (maybe not in the same manor) not nearly as much as a family with 5 children or so. It seems more like a military kind of family where everything has a schedule and rules and to me, its not much of a childhood. Again... just my opinion

have people volunteered at elementaries lately and have seen what some of our sweet ole "normal" families produced? Psh....I take a Duggar anyday over some of those hellions!!! Bunch of spoiled babied brats. I am shocked at what kids are allowed to get away with nowadays. And have you seen how lazy some kids are? Check out gym class? Seriously....it is a treat! See what the generation of video games has done.
Those Duggars all play instruments, all can do several household chores, all have helped build a freaking house!!!! Can cook, are pretty self-sufficient, respectful, polite, they actually seem innocent...gasp...for children...NO!!!
I actually saw them running. I know...craziness, I tell ya. They act like kids to me and that is sorely missing nowadays. Kids are growing up too fast. We are saying they don't pay enough attention to their kids, well, they must be doing something right, their kids seem pretty smart and well adjusted to me. A lot better than than the kids I see being a room mother at the schools or strolling through wal-mart.....

I cant say its irresponsible but possibly inconsiderate of the other children. I understand one person can do a lot but because there are so many coming to the parents for their problems becomes impossible at times so they need to comfort each other. They are all homeschooled but they do have contact with the outside world or will eventually so they may need help with serious issue and end up feeling like one of their siblings is more of a parent then their actual parent.
