re: VSD open heart surgery

My daughter was born in feb. at childrens hospital in wisconsin. The docs. found out she had A VSD and aortic coarctation while she was still in the womb.. The coarc. healed by itself a few days after she was born. They thought she was going to need surgery right away. She was in the NICU for a lil over a week. Sent home. she went to cardiologist every week then every two weeks now its once a month. She is going to be 5 months old on the 13th. When she was born they said they would need to do surgery when she was 4 months. Now they say they may wait till fall, or possibly longer/never if it closes on its own. (she has very large VSD)

ocial Security has a strict definition of disability for children.
• The child must have a physical or mental condition(s) that very seriously limits his or her
activities; and
• The condition(s) must have lasted, or be expected to last, at least 1 year or result in death.
A state agency makes the disablity decision. They review the information you give us. They will also
ask for information from medical and school sources and other people who know about the child.

none of that is applicable with kids with a CHD. you dont have to fill out any questionairs or anything

i would talk to the social worker at the hospital and your cardiologist and reapply before hiring a lawyer.
