Non vaccinating mamas.

posted 1st Jul '12
Why did you choose not to vaccinate?
What do you say to others when they try to argue with you about not vaccinating your children?
How did you find a doctor that is okay with your decision?
No drama please. Just asking questions.

I vaccinate, but I don't think you'll find a doctor that is okay with it, but it is YOUR decision as a parent, not the doctors.

There were many factors involved. Ingredients, how many are given to their little bodies...
Most of it came down to what I felt was right as a mother for my child.
Most of the time, I try not to even bother arguing with people. Most people are set in their ways. It's my child, not theirs. They can give me smurf all day everyday and it still won't sway how I feel about it all.
Our first pediatrician was not okay with it. I got the lecture and was told I was picking and choosing which diseases I want my child to die from. When I refused to sign the refusal to vaccinate form, they told me she could not be seen any longer. We found a new pedi and she has been great until now. Only recently have they wanted me to sign a refusal to vaccinate form. I haven't told them I'm not signing it yet, so we'll see if they kick us out too.

There are some.
Hard to find, yes, but not totally unheard of.

I chose not to vaccinate my son because I didn't feel that pumping his tiny body with his clean blood full of chemicals was a good idea. Anyone that has chosen to argue with me on it has been told that I have decided to do what I feel is best for my child(ren); & as a parent-that's my right. Vaccinating is a medical decision that we get to make & I don't feel it's right for me or my family. My doctor does not agree & we have had disagreements over it almost every checkup; but again-it's my right. I'm not ill-informed; I've done my fair share of research & will look into selectively vaccinating when my child(ren) are older. There will be no chance of anything before age 2.

My pedi just lets parents make their own choices. He's supposed to work with you, not dictate your medical lifestyle.

I don't get into it with others. Those that bring it up and really push the issue, I ask them a few pointed questions and usually they have no ability to answer - they don't have a clue about why they vaccinated or what they vaccinated with. At that point I say, "now, can we drop this?" I'm not on a crusade to stop all vaxing. I'm just making my own personal choice.

Might I add that our medical staff, clinics, researchers etc are funded by the governments and are paid to say these vaccines work and have our children vaccinated so as to raise more money for the governments...

The reason why i am asking is because I've never liked the thought of getting them vaccinated. When my daughter was a baby she was until she was nine months old and I absolutely hated it. I just did not feel it was right to pump her up with things I can't even pronounce, had no idea where it came from and just doctors jumping down my throat telling me this is what i NEED to do. I've tried to do my research and I even have a facebook group that helps me out alot. Im just not very book smart. So its kinda hard for me. DD is almost 3 years old and perfectly healthy. I swear she has never been sick other then a common cold. But people always try to argue with me and tell me what I need to do and that im not a good parent for choosing not to vaccinate. Im hate to be confronted. Im extremely nervous and really shy, its hard for me to stand up to ANYONE. Im not trying to offend anyone that vaccinates. Its YOUR choice so I don't want anyone to get defensive with me. Just asking questions. Maybe im wrong for not doing it, I don't know. But I've never likes the idea of it. Both my brothers are up to date with everything. My youngest one had a TERRIBLE reaction to the RotaVirus(sp?) And the other has aspergers. Idk just needing some opinions!

i refuse to get my daughter vaccinated until she starts school..Too many children now and days have autism and other crazy disorders and I honestly feel it has alot to do with the vaccinations that we have to give to our children. I think it is ridiculous and Im hoping my pediatrician wont give me a hard time about it but if he does i will simply find someone else to go to. I have a neighbor who has 2 sons that are a year apart with autism and they both went to the same pediatrician and had the same vaccinations when she had her daughter she switched pediatricians and didn't get her vaccinated bc she feels that, that is the reason why both of her sons are autistic. thats a chance i do not want to take

I delayed vaccinating my son until he was 3. I got all sorts of things from other parents, especially my friends who are nurses.. They are brainwashed into thinking it is a must, that there is no other option. I merely explained to them that after seeing a child who had a near-death life-altering reaction to vaccinations, I was more comfortable waiting, I was not pumping anything unnecessarily into his tiny baby body. I didn't have much trouble from the doctor's office, once had a PA student nearly jump out of his skin when I told him my son had never had a Vaccine in his life.. He went out to get the doctor, she came in and in front of me and the student said "this mother is educated, she has sense to think of the potential risks and benefits of her decisions, the most important thing I can teach you today is that an educated mother knows far more in the realm of what is best for her child than you ever will."

I live in a state where philosophical exemptions are not allowed, so I did start his vaccinations this month, he is 3 years old. But as far as explaining your decision to people, just don't. It is your child, your choice.

That is just an awesome thing that doctor said. I don't think I've ever actually flat out told nurses etc unless they asked if we were getting them done this time. Only one ever argued me, with how rotavirus kills and/or hospitalizes many, many babies yearly. LOs pedi. is perfectly fine with me making my own decision. Someone else is joining his practice and we'll meet him for LOs 2 year check up... that'll be interesting!

Yes, she is AMAZING. I live in a fairly large city, but drive 35 mins away to see her. My daughter was hospitalized for dehydration about a year ago after a nasty stomach bug.. Her orders for diet and discharge were left at my discretion, the nurses would call her to change something and her response was always "only if the mother okays it, ask her what she wants to do then call me back".. My kids are healthy and happy, and I am one happy momma having her support, and not a doctor who tells me what I am doing wrong.

Hi everyone I found this thread and was wondering if any of you might have a answer to my question. We do not vaccinate our daughter and will not with the baby girl i am pregnant with either. We have a vaccine exemption form for my 1 year old in florida, but we are moving to arizona in 2 weeks. Do we have to get a new form through arizona state or can we jsut keep the one I have for her through the state of Florida???? Any wisdom on this would be soooo helpful!!!

I looked and they still have a religous exemption like we are under here in Florida. So we would def have to get a new one done though right????
