Hair dye???

posted 1st Jul '12
Is it ok to dye your hair in the second trimester? I am 21 weeks and my hair looks pathetic! I just don't want it to harm the baby..

I asked at the hair salon the other and she said it was ok but obviously the strong chemical ones from like the store are bad. She said she did hers at the salon for her pregnancies and everything turned out fine

I did it. I think as long as you have lots of ventilation you will be fine.

As long as you do it in a well ventilated area you should be just fine! NO BLEACHING though. I heard that's a no no. I colored my hair in the second trimester and I'm fine

Yeah just do it in a ventilated room, or open all the windows, you'll be fine

I asked my DR when I was pregnant with DD and he said it was fine, as long as the dye was ammonia free

YES. They are very strong smelling and worse chemicals. Don't ever use box dye. Horrible for your hair too. Go to a beauty supply store and buy some color and developer and mix it yourself. Those smell far less worse and are better for your hair. They will tell you what all you will need and how much to use.

I used to color my hair with box color and it ruined my hair for so long.
