Should I be concerned? TMI...

posted 30th Jun '12
So, last week I posted about me going into pre-term labor, and they couldn't explain why I was contracting every 2-3 min (which lasted 12+ hours). After I left the hospital on Friday (6/22) I had a BM for the first time in three days, another on Saturday which was looser and then Sunday I had diarrhea four times (I know this is TMI, but I wanted to make sure I gave all the info I have). My colostrum began on Sunday as well, but I haven't seen any for the last two days, just really sensitive nipples. I had thought that I had already lost my mucus plug since the week before I went into pre-term labor I was wiping and saw several little globs. I saw my OB on Monday, she said I hadn't dilated anymore, but that I was still thinning out and the baby was really low. However, starting Monday night I had LOTS of mucus when I wiped (imagine a really terrible cold where you have to blow your nose like 5 times to get any relief). It was a very light yellow, so nothing to worry about, but this continued every time I went to the bathroom until Wednesday (both to urinate and have a BM). My contractions finally stopped Wednesday, so I assumed I was back in the clear. DH and I had sex this afternoon around 4PM, and used a condom just to be sure that his semen wouldn't cause me to go back into labor (The doctor suggested this). We haven't had any issued with bleeding after sex, and we definitely were being very easy/slow since he thinks he feels the head or something lol. Tonight though, starting at 10:30 whenever I go to wipe there is mucus tinged with blood. The first time it was brown and bright blood mixed together, so I showed DH and wiped a second time to have even more mucus come out that was mixed with brown blood. I called L&D, but she said she thinks it was from where they checked my cervix last week and on Monday (which I'm not sure of because I thought you bled right after they checked and I've not bled at all for the five times they have checked me). I just went to the bathroom again and there is MORE mucus and blood... should I be worried and just head to L&D or wait until my doctors appointment on Monday? And how much mucus could there be in a mucus plug that I could lose it THIS many days? I know it can regenerate, but that seems really rapid since I've already dilated to 2-3 cm. TIA for any advice!

If this helps too, I have still been having cramps and pain in my lower back all week and for about an hour before we had sex I was contracting but it stopped again.

Sex can irritate the cervix and cause it to bleed so if your not having a lot of bright red blood then you probably have nothing to worry about but if you want to ease your mind call your OB.
