Giving birth at 34 weeks (with pics)

May 6 I was contracting pretty good and went on into labor and delivery. I was 34 weeks and 4 days. I was dilated (I had been some) and my water bag was bulging out of the cervix into the vaginal canal. They delivered my son at 226pm weighing 6lbs2oz 18 1/2 inchs long and absolutely beautiful. They gave him a cpap (oxygen) and weaned him off over the course of the next few hours just to see how he would do. He was breathing perfect. The spinal was not the nightmare I thought it would be. He hasnt gotten to come home yet they are doing the milestones... breathing aloneCHECK holding temp CHECK eating and digesting CHECK (as of yesterday) gaining weight (we are working on this one). He is also required to receive 5 days of antibiotics due to the gestational age. Good luck to all of you expecting soon, I hope your birth experience is as beautiful as mine was.

Thank you ladies. I am super excited, We waited 5 years for that little boy after having my tubes untied (this is my husbands first child) and endured 5 miscarriages. This is truly a gift from God if ever I got one.

Thank you all for the wonderful compliments! I hope you have quick and painless deliveries! I was so worried about the spinal (i knew i would deliver section) but it was a snap and they gave me the astromorphine medication that extends the pain relief 12 or so hours without the numbness. GODSEND if you have to have a section and this is available at your hospital do it! It was actually about 48 hours post op that I even had to start taking motrin, and I only had to take the vicodin on average every 12 hours or so
