When your LO is running a fever- when do YOU medicate, whether it be Tylenol, Motrin, Advil- whatever. I'm just curious about what other people's policy is. Personally I will not medicate until 102 degrees, and even then ONLY if he is inconsolable and in obvious discomfort. I resort to other methods first at all times (cool bath, facecloth, ect) because I know the fever is the bodies way of fighting off the infection.

It depends on the symptoms as well as the fever as a whole if that makes sense.

It depends. If they are playing normally, I usually wait until somewhere around 102.

I never treat a fever until 102+. I will treat symptoms with Tylenol prior to that if I feel it is needed.

Depends on the child, depends on if there are other symptoms involved.

Generally, I don't like medicating under 102.

103-104 ill medicate unless there are some other symptoms that require it. my youngest gets really high temps when he gets them and runs around bat smurf crazy. his first time getting rsv (he was 2.5) his fever was over 105. most people would have run screaming to the ER. i dosed him, gave him a bath, and he was fine. fevers dont phase me much unless something else is going on.

My LO turns 1 on Monday and just got RSV- any suggestions for ways to help him and make him more comfortable? I hate seeing him sick

Poor guy. It's a hard one since there's not much you can do for them. Keep em cool and hydrated.we just bummed around with movies and napped a lot. i hope he feels better soon!

But before medication I try to break it by stripping the baby/child down and a Luke warm bath if necessary. Also cold flannels. I that fails then ill give them meds.

104 ish depending on how he is acting. if he's ok i leave it be.
