Should i wait a little longer?

posted 2 days ago
I just started ttc, since my miscarriage in december. Well since Feb. I've been having really bad hives on my skin. I've been to 4 doctors and no one exactly knows why i get them. They say it could be allergies or stress or my hormones could still be messed up since i had the m/c. Well now i'm on some meds that seem to control them. The medicine label says it hasn't been tested on pregnant women yet. So they don't know what type of harm it could cause to a baby. Besides that i'm healthy, I've been taking prenatals and folic acid. I just feel like things keep pushing me back and i will never get my baby. Should i wait until after i get off the meds or should i keep trying and talk to doctors about putting me on something that wouldn't harm a baby and still help my hives? I really need some opinions! Thanks.

u should talk to your dr. see if they can get something safer for your hives. and you should do it soon! so you can get pregnant and tell us when you get a BFP!

I would start trying and see if you can get on different meds. Good luck! I am pg and had a mc in March so there is hope! Hope you feel better with the hives.

The name is Inderal. It's a medicine for blood pressure but it also helps for hives.

According to my drug book for nursing the it is a class C drug.

No adequate human data in first trimester, however there is a suggested possible association with cardiovascular defects and hypospadias. Hypospaidas is when the urethra doesnt develop properly. Chronic use in the second and third trimesters can lead to fetal bradycardia which isnt good because then your baby wont get enough oxygen. It can also lead to hypoglycemia and hypocalcemia.

I say...dont take it unless you REALLY need it! ;)

Thanks for the info. My doctor wants me on it for atleast another month. Thats the only thing that helps the hives. So i do need to take it, atleast for now.

I think you'd be alright to take it prior to pregnancy, just not during!! ;)

does your doctor know you are ttc? i would definitely consult with your doctor to see if this is going to be ok and if not what other meds you can go on ...i was on a ton of cat c drugs while i was pregnant (still am actually) but that's because without them, i couldn't breathe too swiftly (the joys of asthma)...but then, my allergist and ob agreed that it would be better for me to breathe for both myself and the baby than not to...so the greater good was to stay on the meds...good luck! hope you get your bfp sooN!
