I have been told to cut down my cigs by one a day... Do not stop cold turkey as it could lead to un needed stress... High blood pressure... Anxiety attacks... Depression... And more. Ive gone from a pack a day to 5 a day... Sometimes less if i keep myself busy. I should be smoke free within the month and i will never go back... Its been too much of a battle for me to quit. Once im done im done for good

I quit cold Turkey after smoking for four years....I was definitely under a lot of stress/ depression before quitting...I wont go into details....It all comes down to will power....I was scared to death of harming my baby....as soon as that test showed positive I couldn't do it.

That's true if its causing anxiety attacks to quit cold Turkey then yeah I would try easing into it...I had HG while pregnant so I think that helped with getting it out of my mind too...good luck momma

I have to disagree on the will power part. Smokers are psychically addicted. Some can handle the after effects while others cannot.

I don't think anyone wants to "harm" their unborn child. Those who smoke during pregnancy do not think "Hmm, maybe I should light up today so I can poison my fetus". It's an addiction and if it were that easy to quit the average smoker wouldn't take at least 6 tries to finally quit.

I realize this as my fiance has attempted to quit 4 times this year...he was diagnosed with stage 1 hypertension and needs to quit for his health. We have always smoked the same amount until I got pregnant obviously. I guess agree to disagree? However if quitting cold Turkey is stressing you out to no end ( anxiety attacks ect) then yeah definitely take it slow

Oh and I wasn't saying that women who smoke while pregnant do it to poison their babies. My fear of it negatively affecting my baby was my driving source. I highly doubt I would have quit permanently if I never got pregnant

thank you for the info.

I shouldn't have suggested it without looking into it I just know that some don't have any nicotine but has the sensation of smoking, but you're right they haven't tested it so it's best not to.

as far as me i didn't use anything during pregnancy so I'm good lol
