I don't blame you! I missed them so bad for so long. I think if I was around a smoker I still would.

Man I feel bad for you guys. I was a pack a day smoker (sometimes more! Yikes) and I stopped cold turkey after I had my ultrasound, heard the heartbeat, and saw my little alien soybean creature living inside my uterus.

It wasn't hard at all for me. I craved it only when I was on the phone or talking to one of my girlfriends--my favorite times to chain-smoke!

But it's different for each lady.... Just suck it up and do it. You have to do it for your lil' one.

I crave them every single day, it's awful, really.

I didn't start back up until my daughter was maybe 5 weeks old (I cant remember, how sad lol)

Don't worry. I don't remember anything any more. I feel like my grandmother.

Ehh I am not going to judge and it is really not any of my business an addiction is hard to quit, I was on pain meds for years I am pregnant and still take meds from time to time, rarely, because I get "sick" without them after a while and am in sooooo much pain I am heavily physically addicted

I do not smoke but would imagine it is hard to just stop... keep trying and keep cutting back

good luck! hope you can quit for good

Im really pleased your baby is doing so well despite the fact that you frequently deprive it of oxygen and deliberately release numerous poisons into its blood stream. I find it sad that you choose to fight on this forum and say smoking is ok because your baby seems healthy and compare the effects to unpreventable birth defects and caffeine!? Is that really how you feel or do you just like to rile people up? The majority of these mothers know that smoking isnt a good choice, but theyre having issues cutting down/ quitting, they know its harmful during pregnancy and can cause some serious issues after birth. Im just amazed at your 'smurf it, it'll be fine' view point to be perfectly honest.

Quit cold turkey for both pregnancies. With my eldest I quit at three months cuz thats when I found out. With my daughter I found out at five weeks but quit at eight cuz it took me a few weeks. But was so worth it I just picked up smoking again this year my daughter is now 2 1/2. Because I went through a loss but want to quit again because i had been done for almost 2 years til now. I say cold turkey or an e cig and surround yourself with supporting people.

I agree... people just think it's OK to poison their unborn child because smoking is socially acceptable. I gave up when i found out I was pregnant, after all you have to give up a hell of a lot more for your child, smoking is nothing in comparison.

The E cig isn't recommended for pregnant women as it has never been tested on fetuses. While it is not tobacco, it still has chemicals in it which MAY be harmful for unborn fetuses. At least with tobacco you know the risks.

I would try the gum OP; if you really want to quit. You have to want it though or else nothing will work. Good luck.

It is for some, isn't for others. It all depends on how much you smoke and how addicted you are. Some women can quit cold turkey with no issues at all. Others, like myself, go through serious withdrawals that can cause problems.

Speak with your Doctor. Mine recommended cutting back (I am a very heavy smoker). I tried cold turkey with my son and ended up in the hospital with bleeding and withdrawals. So I cut back as much as I could.
