Leaking fluid or just paranoid?

posted 30th Jun '12
I've been noticing my undies get wet alot here lately. I know most of the time its pee, but this morning when i got out of bed, i felt something leak, it wasn't alot of fluid, just enough to wet my underwear some. It smelt kinda sweet. It hasn't been doing it enough to soak my underwear to where i'd need to change them. Could i be leaking fluid? And if so, if its leaking that slow, do i need to go to the E.R.?

if you are really concerned that you can be leaking amniotic fluid then you can go to L&D and get tested to see if indeed it is fluid. It is very important to be sure it is not fluid because if it is they need know and take action. Better safe than sorry momma.

Call your dr just to be safe they will probably want you to come in and they can check whether or not it’s pee, but my last month of pregnancy I have had so much more discharge then ever before so it could also be this

I had this happen so I called my doctor, went in, and got it tested. One test was positive, one was negative :/ so they said it wasn't my fluid and sent me home....2 days later it was still...dripping. I went in again and the tests did the same thing so they just kept me. My doctor said it was probably a high leak. Better safe than sorry!

I was having a lot of watery discharge, and cause it's so hot here in arizona I sweat a lot. I was worried I was leaking amniotic fluid. I asked my doctor about it and he said if my water broke, I would know because it would just keep coming and coming and coming. Sit in the AC, go pee pee, then change your undies. if your panties keep getting soaked then I would call labor and delivery and ask them. Yeah my doctor said if it was fluid, it would just keep trickling out, or gushing out. he said its very rare to have a tiny leak, and tiny leaks usually make it obvious soon after later with the baby putting pressure down there. Good luck! we're due almost on the same day!!

Are you going to Floyd? The L&d nurses are really sweet. Don't go to the ER go up to the L&D triage and they help test you and probably hook you up and do a NST.

I didnt know you could do that. Last time i went for a back ache, turned out to be a pulled muscle, they sent me right up there. Waited maybe 20 mins.

I never went to the ER, just right to triage. Go in the main entrance, not the ER entrance (the one that faces the Hardin building and parking deck) who is your OB?

I had this problem at 23 weeks! I thought maybe it was just an excess amount of discharge (tmi) but it kept happening throughout the night. It didn't smell like urine either! My friend told me to go to the ER, I called my mom and she said the same thing, as did my boyfriend. So we went to L&D and they monitored my fluid levels with an ultrasound, did an fFn (which came back positive so I had to stay overnight), but anytime they swiped me it came up negative for amniotic fluid. I kept telling the nurse that I felt really silly being there and she kept reassuring me that it was better to be safe than sorry! So my advice is to just GO and just make sure everything is okay!!! You can never be too safe for your baby!! Hope everything turns out okay!
