We are considered middle to upper class. I would say it was because of taking risks and making good financial investments......so none of the above really.

middle class. I'm here because, uhh idk you gotta start somewhere? i got a starter job after highschool and have been working my way up in positions while in college. got pregnant and stopped school/ stopped working as much but i am hoping to go back to college in the winter. I'd like to quit my job potentially and become a full time student. I am not unhappy or happy, its whatever. Pays the bills and we live comfortable.
ETA: and SO works two jobs, neither of them at minimum wage.
so i guess to answer your question because we work.

I would consider myself upper middle class. My DH and I are both college educated up to our masters and due to working our asses off got great jobs. Now I stay home, he works. I Think we both have great families who encouraged us and are both willing to work hard. We also havnt made any poor choices as far as money goes, we have lived without things like cable and Internet in order to pay for masters classes. Honestly I think our work ethic and lack of self entitlement is why we are successful.

I am definitely lower class because of my age, being a single mom, and trying to get through school. I pray to God that things won't stay like this. Before I had my daughter and for the first 8 months of her life, she was 100% provided for and so was I by her dad and dad's wealthy family. He was arrested for abusing us and after that we lost complete contact with them and I've been on my own. It's really hard going from never having to worry about a single thing financially, to having to worry about EVERYTHING by yourself.

We are middle class. We got here because of hard work. We both grew up in poverty. (Dh and I) and have fought to get out. Now we live fairly comfortably, and are able to meed our needs, our child's needs, and our wants. We live in a nice neighborhood and pay all our bills. I don't think it has anything to do with luck...I think it has to do with being blessed tbh.

It sounds like you're on the right track! Good for you! It'll get better before you know it.

(After Googling the differences in classes):
I believe that we are in the upper middle class. We fall in the 15-20% nationally but make about three times our State's average income.
We both have advanced degrees (he has a B.S. and I have a M.S.). We have each had jobs in which we worked long hours but now we just work the standard 40 hours. We have been conservative with our money (to an extent) and have wonderful families that have supported us along the way. There is always a little luck in the mix, I think.
We are going into our 30's this year, so we have also been at this for a little while .

We're middle to upper and I owe it to a little bit of luck, I didn't marry rich but I married a super motivated guy, because of his hard work and motivation,I could afford to go to a good school, because I could afford to go to a good school, I got a good job, now he's back in school and we make pretty good money between the two of us.
We did work hard, we still do but i don't believe that I work any harder than most people would given the opportunities I was. Because of my husbands risks and hard work I don't have obscene student loans and debt to pay back.

We are in the lower middle class right now. DH just got his bachelors in Network Security and I'm working on getting my RN right now. DH just started working for a porting company and doesn't make a lot of money at the moment, but he's expecting a raise soon. Once I'm done with this program and I get my RN, I think we'll shift into the upper middle class.

Lower class-because of single income, dependents and lack of education. I think it has to do with a lot more than that but all of the root causes point back to my husbands and my choices. I went through college for my AA but lack of experience and a new pregnancy kept me from pursuing work in my field. Which is interesting because I got pregnant with my first right before I was going to go to college, I was going to be a lawyer. Every chance I've had to make something of myself I smurf away...
I didn't even really think about that until just now when I was putting together the events of my adult life. I had no idea how much I suck.
That's depressing. lol

Everyone has regrets, it sounds like you put your family at the top of your priority list and that's nothing to be depressed about.

I wasn't going to put myself out there like this but I feel terrible I made you feel bad about your choices, I got pregnant before I started school and had an abortion to pursue my career as a lawyer, so unless you would prefer a career in law over your youngest I'd say you likely made the best choice for you.
