re: Changing last name..

SO isn't on our kid's birth certificate. (long story) But they still have his last name. The lady told me they could have whatever name I chose. I don't know about changing it though. BD wants me to change my oldest DS's last name. Since he has mine, but I've never looked into it.

It can be difficult, and expensive. My first petition was denied because the judge didn't feel it was a good reason to change her name and other bs smurf. I had to wait a few years to move to a new county, and only AFTER my daughter got smurf in school was it finalized. But we had to petition 2 different courts to get it changed. You also have to put notices in the paper. It can be easy but it's not like how they made it on TV.... AT ALL.

Yeah I had no idea, like I said I don't have experience. I'm sure if you know people in the court system it would be easier though.

I have a ? as well my fiance wants to change my LO last name to his once we get married ik his real dad wnt sign his rights over but he dnt wnt ne thing to do with his kid so could i try to fight it?
