Child Safety Seat Inspection Sites (US)

Here is a link to a web site that lists registered Child Safety Seat Inspection Sites across the US. I highly recommend getting any new seat inspected to be sure it is installed properly. The people that are certified are normaly very knowledgable about car seat safety and are very helpful. This is a free service and some areas also have programs avalible for parents that are having a hard time affording a car seat.

No problem   I didn't realise there was a site to look it up before today and thought I would pass it on.

Also (Since there are no sites within an hour of me), if you can't make it to one of those sites, police, fire departments and EMS personnel are usually trained to check them. You just call and make an appointment.

Yep...Im a paramedic...and Im also a Child passenger safety tech..
also a Senior Checker...so I do it for all my friends....its SOOOOO important!!!

Oh and some more good info...I'm not sure if all sheriffs offices do this, but the one here has these stickers that you put on your childs carseat incase you are in an accident and you or whoever is with the child is killed or unconcious so that paramedics and police will have the information needed to get your child treatment if needed, and notify a family member or next of kin so that the child has a place to go home to in the event that you are unable to go home with them.

When you go to the site checks...we put it on right then and there! If you happen to see them...place them where the baby cant play with it and peel it off...thats a very important sticker!

I was also told not to put them where someone could walk by your car and get your baby's info to protct them from identity theft.

I put the sticker on the back of the seat where it won't be messed with.

Thats exactly right!!
On the back...where it cant seen by passer bys.....I usually put it right under the fabric of the seat......in a accident..depending on the severity...we will take the baby out of the seat..and strip the seat looking for that sticker if needed
