oral adversions help

posted 28th Jun '12
DS is 7 months. and will not eat food. he eats about 3 bites and then starts gagging. he is supposed to eat food 2x a day for OT but its getting ridiculous and i feel like he is doing worse rather than better with this.

back story: he was on a vent for a total of 15 days of his life, and tube fed for a little under 2 months, both in and out of the hospital. he would never latch, and so is bottle fed (he is also very picky about which bottle it is, and is still at slow flow at 7 months when we try to go to stage 2 he does the gag thing too, even tho its not coming out super fast)

any tips/tricks you could share would be great

thanks

i would talk to the dr and who said hes supposed to eat twice a day? if hes gaining weight and growing then i would think hes fine but thats just my opinion talk to the dr since he knows your son and his history he may be able to tell you something to ease your mind

the doctors are aware. it has nothing to do with growth issues, but oral adversions

i have known several babies that didnt want to eat baby food at that age...i understand the docs concern but mabe LO just doesnt like it. My 2nd child refused to eat baby food but would eat regular food (when she had enough teeth too) she was still pretty picky....then we found out she has pdd-nos and has sensory issues w/the textures of certain foods.
