my friends mom was up her butt and on her ass and she smoked pot. Having said that, she never became a "pothead" and never got in trouble and now she smokes maybe once a year and she is in college on track to be a psychologist for the looney bin. She is by far the best kid i know, even tho she did it a little

i agree wiht you tho, dare got me interested. I think in some situations its near impossible to ensure your child doesnt do drugs. I was into the 60s and 70s from the age of 9!! i loved the music and the culture. I was a good, smart kid but i also was curious and headstrong- i was gonna do what i wanted. My mom tried to teach me how bad it was from a young age and it backfired on her

heres my gameplan... keep them in activities... all the time- sports, family outings..

girls that are active in sports are less likely to be sexually active and do drugs...

I understand that kids will do what they want.. but hopefully I can help protect them from themselves....

if have read the book its saying it for sick people and if your busted useing it you get in trouble. Thats all the book is really about. Like i said pro and cons. Its not say somke it if you got it. Its to leting your child know when that time comes and someone trys to give it to you tell them your not sick and you dont need it thats all. Thats why i feel its a good book. Dont judge a book by its cover .

I would let my kids read it.

alot of times reading memoirs of ex-addicts will scare you away from the drug

nope nope ive read about a lot of drugs and never even came close to doing them. Yes i have smoked pot but i was never told the pros and cons my famliy never talked about them. So everything i heard about them was from my friends. All the had to say was good things. Never the bad thats why i would want to explain them to my child when the time is right.

I read in the news recently about a mentally handicapped child that was 6 years old that brought crack and pot to school or something of the combination. His mother was arrested for child endagerment(well duh) but It really goes to show you that it can put your whole family at risk. Especially when you are dumb enough to lay it where your kids can get it.

My story..
My husband used to smoke..and he would do it in the car away from me, as long as he got rid of any of the stuff left over. Well one time he forgot and I got pulled over, and a cop searched and lo and behold there was a joint roach in the ash tray.Luckily it was a really sweet cop and he baught my story that my 16 year old brother borrowed my car last night. He just took it and let me go. It terrified me and my husband so much that he actually stopped smoking because its just not worth the chance of losing our family.

but what about the 10 year old experimenting with weed? i know its less common, but in my 5th grade class there were quite a few who tried it already. i'm guessing their parents thought they were too young to even have to worry about that, but they were wrong.
