Can you get an abortion while BFing?

Hypothetically speaking, so please don't assume anything ....

Is it possible to get an abortion while still BFing? Would you have to pump and dump, I assume? If it was a really early abortion, like under 6 weeks?

You can get one while breast feeding.

I think so. As long as there aren't any heavy duty meds involved.

I would guess it would be okay, as long as you pump and dump for a few days if you are taking any medication...

I think the length of time you'd have to do that would depend on the method of abortion...pill or surgical.

Yes, why not? Just like any surgery, you would have to wait until the anesthesia cleared your system.

what are generally the options for a very early abortion? a pill or do they do a medical procedure like a D&C? When I had my m/c at 7w, they did a D&C and knocked me out for it and I was on heavy pain meds (well, heavy for me, but probably not anything too major) for about a week afterward.

well a Csec is a surgery and I was able to BF right after that and with pain meds, so ....

and I also didn't know if there were other ways of having an abortion that would change things.

I was sedated for several procedures while BFing DS. My doc said to wait 12 hours before nursing.

i know in germany you usually have to consult with profamilia or your OB, they usually do an evalutation if you are able to make this decision.
my friend got a few abortions and i think if i remember right they gave her a pill at all the gestational ages she was at. she said it was heavy bleeding and a lot of cramping, but nothing too bad.

nah. it's ok, but thanks Jenny. I highly doubt it's even possible for me to be pg. I've just been SO sick and was never this sick except when I was pg, so the thought crossed my mind. But we only had sex once, we used a condom and I started getting sick 3 days later, so I think that's even too soon to be connected. I took a test and it was a BFN, so hopefully it stays that way!
