HELP me please

I cant seem to find a clear answer, so forgive me if this is a super stoopid question! Does the luteal phase include the day you ovulate? or is from the day after you ovulate until af beginning?

Im still confused, I use www.mycycle.com and on there it marks the 'average' day you would ovulate i.e 14 days before AF begins. BUT that means there is only a 13 day luteal phase?! I thought the average LP was 14 days - that is why i assumed (and hoped) LP included the day of ovulation.

Ugh i think my LP is only like 8 or 9 days, i know thats too short to hold a successful pregnancy and just ends chemical pregnancy, ive had one of those already  

Any more ideas anyone? (i appreciate the last answer, i just want to make 100% cos everything is contradiciting and im too stupid to understand lol) I may sound like im being picky here, but obvs it is important to know how long my LP is incase i do have a luteal phase defect! Thank you for anyone who can clear this up for my simple brain lol

The luteal phase is the day after ovulation and runs through the remainder of a woman's cycle. It is also frequently referred to as "days past ovulation" or "DPO". http://www.webwomb.com/luteal_phase_frame_page.htm

Although it is stated that a 14 day leutal phase is the norm, that doesn't mean that everyone has a 14 day LP. Some women can have 15 day LP's and some can have 12,13 day LP's. If your LP is 13 Days then that is fine, there is no reason for concern. It is when the LP dips down under 10 days is when there is reason for concern.

The 13 day thing on mycycle doesnt take anything into account (bbt etc), its just on the calender page - it always highlights O day as 14 days before AF is due to give you a reminder. Its not actually calculating it. But seeing as it is using the average - 14 days before af - that means the average luteal phase is 13 days then right????? Because if LP is from the day after O, then surely mycycle should be flagging up 15 days before AF, not 14!!

I just need to know for certain if LP includes the actual day you ovulate?

I read somewhere you can take meds to lenghten your lutheal phase (probably progesteron). I think it needs to be about 13 days for TTC. Ask your Dr. Maybe get some blood counts done.

unfortunately they wont help yet   i was told to give it a while for my cycle to settle, and come back once we've tried for 12 months   Hopefully it will get longer! Ive only been taking opk for 2 months, so although ive been regularily visited by af, its only just hit me that im not really o'ing! my cycles are really random, im hoping my new meds n stuff will help. I know 11+ days is ok for ttc, so if it includes O day then i might just get lucky. If not, well boohoo!

I don't know the answer to your question, but I wanted to commisserate. My cycles were really short... only 14 days between periods. It was like AF wasn't just visiting, but moved in, she was around so much! Turns out I wasn't ovulating and my body was just guessing when AF was supposed to come... but fertility doctors are truly amazing, and after a few months on meds my cycle regulated and I was able to concieve.

Thanks! it is so frustrating, especially as im not getting much medicalsupport just now. Id just like to know what is going on with my body really! thought i just had a 24 day cycle, but i think last months spotting was just spotting, so really i had a 59 day cycle. Im all over the place!! Ah well, time will tell (i hope!)
