Well, there you go. That would just be the ultimate romantic gesture. Not creepy at all.

I know this is in TDC but just wanted to add something relevant, in my hospital if you MC or require a DC or other form of medical help, (the shot for ectopics for instance) they cremate the remains and you have to option of having the ashes returned to you, they will also arrange any kind of religious requirements you have, a priest to do a blessing for instance. It is possible to have respect, yes at early stage it is just a clump of cells, but in many cases that clump of cells is more than just that to the person suffering the loss. Some people require a bit of closure and while it would be unreasonable to bury every single loss, there are other ways to help people cope, that do not involve throwing away the remains.

Guess what they do with limbs that have been amputated from the body? Should be bury them too? They are a part of someone, are they not?

I personally would not want the remains of a miscarriage (and I have had one). I can see how it would be meaningful to some, yet I wonder how many grieving couples would incur the cost of it in order for hospital policies and protocols to change so drastically as to allow it.

How do you cremate blood and/or clots?

the same way you creamate bodies (which are composed of blood and tissue)

They let me keep the wisdom tooth and molar that I had surgically excised. I still have them somewhere around here. And a picture of them in the little baggie thing he gave them to me in.

I agree with this.

Besides that, there are so many more meaningful things that a grieving mother could keep in remembrance of her baby. I know at many the nurses will give a certificate to the mother. It's nothing that is actually official but it's something for her to hold in hand that is recognition from another that her baby existed.

In an incinerator on a tray the same way you would a full sized body. The fact is it is going to be rare for a hospital to deal with a m/c that small, for most women that will happen at home with no medical help, it will be women who are further along, as I was at 16 weeks, that require help or to be at the hospital while it happens.

There is not enough tissue to cremate early miscarriages.

Well they offered with my ectopic, if I had required surgery they would cremate the remains and have them returned to me if I had so wished.

I had my 11 week old fetus cremated, and the funeral home told me that there was nothing left, no ashes or anything.

It's BIO HAZARD material... if you feel that strongly then take yours home and burry it next to the cat. FFS.
