Junior?

posted 8th May
My husband and I are expecting our first baby, and we won't know if it's a boy or a girl until my ultrasound in 4 weeks. After my lovely hyperemesis, I don't know when/if I am going to feel like getting pregnant again...so this might be our only child.

Okay, so this is the problem... the only baby related thing my husband has had any sort of opinion on so far is that he wants a "junior" if it's a boy.

Now, I'm all about compromise. If it's a boy, I'm all about giving him my husband's name as his middle name or whatever. However, I absolutely HATE the idea of my husband and my child having the same exact name. Every time we talk about names at all, he always brings this up. What can I say to him to get some sort of a compromise? Any help anyone can give me would be absolutely super.

I had the saaaame problem. Even when I went in to the hospital my son was going to be Frank Gavyn, and I was kind of ok with it but I really didn't want a junior either. Thankfully after I had a long labor and eventual c-section, my husband let me flip flop the names so my son is Gavyn Frank

Krystoffer and I had the same thing, if Aimée had been a boy he wanted Jr, and it drove me nuts!

Wow, I must have gotten lucky. Josh told me that if it was a boy, he didn't want him to be a "junior". LOL

I just hope it's a girl so I don't have to worry about it.

I would have agreed to it personally at first, but now I've been rethinking it. Maybe just try to do the same initals? Or something that sounds kind of the same? Idk every time I put my foot down about something saying no I usually don't get much crap about it. Meh I guess I'm one of the lucky ones =-)!

Tell him that it will fuck the child over in the form of credit. My DH is a jr and we have so much trouble cause they pull his dads credit instead of his and i had alot of trouble with medicaid because of this they were like you have 5 credit cards and 3 cars why do you need our help so yeah that was crap. And we get calls from his bill collecters its horrible. I wouldnt do it he wanted to name our son a 3rd and i was like ooooohhhh no im not doing this mess again.

My husbands name is Garrett Brandon and of course he wanted our son to be a Jr. I wanrted to name him Brandon. We compromised somewhat cause we are going to call him Brandon. He said if you don't name the first one Jr. then you can't name any of them Jr. I am happy with our compromise. We have already told everyone that we are going to call him Brandon so there is no confusion when he is born. Hope you work things out.

I had the same problem, and I told him from the get-go a "Junior" is out of the question, end of discussion lol. He sucked it up like a good man! But we ended up getting a list of baby boy names and baby girl names that we both liked, and we just agreed on one of each... no fussing or fighting! Both of you need to do research on names at separate times and come up with lists. You bring the lists together and only write down names you both agree on. This worked for us, hope it works for you!
