Circumcision or no circumcision???

posted 27th Jun '12
Ok so I have heard lots of things about circumcision and my boyfriend and I are so confused on whats best for our son. I have heard that a boy can get infections if he is not circumcised because it's harder to keep clean but my in birthing class they said that you don't have to do any thing different in cleaning it.. she said you don't have to pull the skin back and wash it. But when I do research and talk to people I know they all say you have to make sure it's really clean and pull that skin back and wash it. Also I have heard that if a man is not circumsisied then when he has sex he can't last long and he wont have a good sex life. And I have heard that sometimes when you get a circumcision that they sometimes screw up and cut off too much skin and sex can be painful for a man... does anyone have any other options on why or why not to get this done?

my advice to you is to google it and research using the links google gives you (as long as there is no ANTI or PRO in the description or link). Because, asking on BG will only get you everyone elses OPINIONS and end up in a huge debate.

research and then decide based on your findings and do what YOU want to do with YOUR child despite the opinions of other people.

good luck.

My son was circumcised and I regret it, big time. He has had a few issues stemming from it. If I ever have another boy he shall remain intact.

Yes, men were designed to not last long and not enjoy sex. All part of the plan. :|

I circ'd my son. Had no problems with it, it was quick and easy, and i don't regret it.

Do your own research. The penis skin will not retract until the boy is around 4-5 years old. At which point he should be potty trained and can clean it to avoid the dreaded "dick cheese".
We chose to get our son circ'd and will with this one as well for personal beliefs not sanitation or cosmetic appearance.

Quoting misanthrope:" My son was circumcised and I regret it, big time. He has had a few issues stemming from it. If I ever have another boy he shall remain intact."

This is me too, My sons was done terribly wrong at first so we had it redone, after we had it redone, a small small piece adheared to the back of the head and they had to put numbing cream on him in the docs office and cut it with scissors   If I ever have another son he will also be intact. I was ignorant and didnt do the research I should have with my son, and he is suffering the consequences for it

My son was circ'd. We had absolutely no complications with it and I don't regret it. I hadn't done much research on it at the time, but his father is and every male in the family (that I know of) is. The only thing I regret is not doing more research on it and going by what family members told me instead.

The best thing you can do is do research and decide for yourselves. My SO played a big part in the decision for our son and we had him circ'd. I don't regret the decision and if we had another boy I would do it again. A lot of the things you mentioned are untrue especially for uncirc'd boys. Again, only you and your SO can decide what is best for you and your child. There are people all over the board on it. It's not something someone else can decide for you

My son was circumcised honestly i believe in it my nephew was uncut and his mother did not clean him properly he was 3 and got a bad infection and at 3 yrs old he had to go thro emergency circumcision it was horrible for him. I think if you do decide to do it research the pediatrician you have do it first it will help ease worry about and mishaps good luck.

Its bad to force the skin back, you are not supposed to do that for a intact boy. They say to clean an intact boy just like you would a finger.Boys that are intact do get more infections than boys that are circ'd. It is a cosmetic procedure, it is not medically necessary. You are going to get a bunch opinions on here. My suggestion would be to do your own research. If I ever have a boy I will leave the decision up to my SO, he already told me that he would choose to circ. Everyone has their own reasons! Go with what your decision is not everyone elses!
