nitrous oxide

So I have to get 8 teeth removed fr and the oral surgeon wants to do it through this nitrous oxide & iv sedation. I ask my ob today and she told me that it is safe. I explained to her I was afraid it would make me loose the baby and she said if I feel that way to wait until I am 24 weeks pregnant. I have been looking it up online and it's pregnancy category C and has caused stillborns!!! no way in hell I am doing that!

They told me I couldn't get my wisdom teeth taken out.

I know its super important to go to the dentist while prego to keep your teeth clean but screw that! I went in when I was about 8weeks along and got a filling and my teeth cleaned then they told me they wanted to do another filling and some other stuff and I just didn't go back. I plan on getting my one tooth filled and that should be it I dont have any other messed up crap. I understand where you are coming from, I wouldn't do it. Wait until after baby is born just to be safe.

Just wondering; why does your OB say wait till your 24 weeks? is there something significant about being 24 weeks that makes it safer? sorry if this is a stupid question I'm just curious...

I think because a percentage of fetuses become "vital" at that point?

There is less of a chance of a miscarriage. Thats why they say that. But to me you have to read the fine print. At 24 weeks its not a miscarriage but it doesnt mean they will survive.

8 teeth seems like a big deal to me. Which means a lot of after pain. Can it wait until you give birth?

I'm needing them removed due to an infection. It can get into my bloodstream if it comes back. & will only for sure be gone when it leaves my body. The ob said 24 weeks because my pregnancy is viable then, like they could save the baby but anything before that no way.

Well itt sounds like something you have to do. I dont think it should start you into labor or anything unless you have some sort of problem with pre term labor. I had a root canal done at 32 weeks i believe it was and it didnt affectv the baby or anything. I hope for the best in your situation. Good luck!
