I worked there, hated the company. My best friend had a very sick son and they were going to fire her for her absences even though she had proof that they were all spent in the hospital with her son. He was 3 1/2 and had cancer and was a heart transplant patient and they were going to fire her! SMH....she quit so she wouldn't get fired and her son passed away a week or so later. The big boss had the nerve to show up to his showing and told her she could have her job back any time she wanted to and when she showed up they wouldn't hire her! Walmart sucks.

Yep. I am in the process of trying to find a new job. I blew my first interview and then with the second one I got to the second interview and they took the people with experience in that field over me even though you are required to go to training for six weeks. I am like, how are you even supposed to get experience when noone will give it to you I wonder?

Quoting Raindancer:" Yep. My husband was one of those and they had been looking for a reason to fire him for awhile."

Your walmart sounds crazy!
My husband is full time, not management, and has been working there 3 years this september. He also made employee of the month twice this past year! The only thing that frustrates him about his job is that he cant seem to get a promotion. But hes had several raises. We dont hate it.

I was going to get a minor promotion (customer service to customer service manager) until I came back from my LOA. I had the csm numbers and was working as one and while I was gone they took away my numbers for it and refused to put me back in the position and then we got a new manager that was looking for Csms but said she wouldn't take me because I was a few minutes late like three times. Not enough to count against me though. Then my dad got sick and died and my uncle got sick and died so that resulted in two different writeups. Well one verbal and one written. Then a few months later I got really sick like I spent three days on my bathroom floor so I was written up again. I have one more write up to go and then term and the thing is that with my little bro shipping out in two weeks I will be taking the day he is leaving off rather they like it or not so I should be getting my final write up then unless I can get someone to take my hours which is unlikely. My husband had been working there for almost six years when he was fired and for me it is only five. The thing is I have always been scared to find another job but that is because I have given myself the illusion that I have some kind of job security because of working there so long but really that is so far from the truth.

Maybe it has something to do with the people that work at your walmart?
I mean the management there?

When I worked at WalMart it was NOTHING like you ladies are saying.   They would be a little late giving breaks and lunches and letting people off sometimes, but that was because so many people would be late coming in.

I never had a problem, and the last time I worked there I was making about $2 over min. wage, and working nearly 40 hrs/wk.

Here you get about 50 cents over min wage and you are lucky to get 30 hours a week.

There's only 2 or 3 stores that you can get paid more than Walmart around here and you need to have experience to get more money. Like Sheetz here you can make $10/hour if you have cashier experience. That's really the only thing keeping me at Walmart at this point, and being almost 100% sure I work 32 hours a week.

I had cashier experience and all they would pay me is 7.90!! Lame
