Abortions and Circumcisions

I always hear this argument in favor of keeping abortions legal "If it's not legal, women will get it done anyway and they will die from it, back ally abortions and all that nasty stuff"

Then why make circumcisions illegal? Does the same argument "back ally circ's" not scare you just as much or more? Die hard religious people who believe in it, won't stop because it's illegal.

I just thought of this argument like an hour ago, no joke, but was too afraid of saying it!

I think it's completely comparable to circumcise a 2 day old and abort a fetus.

I agree. I don't push for making circumcision illegal...I push for accurate information. For BOTH procedures. People have so many misconceptions about both.

I don't want to make either illegal ... Just want people to educate themselves. In australia circumcision isn't illegal it's just expensive and difficult to find a doctor that will do it for non-medical reasons. If your REALlY want to have it done you've gotta pay for it.

Because people won't be so desperate as to take it into their own hands. Abortion? Yeah, forcing someone to keep a baby makes people desperate. I doubt people will get desperate over a piece of skin on their baby's penis. We made FGM illegal, didn't we?

Didn't a woman circumsize her son recently. She obviously caused major damage, but her reasoning was her dr wouldn't do it.

Well.....seeing as how the religious people doing it usually have a religious official do it and not necessarily a doctor, I'm sure they'd still be able to find a religious official to perform their child's circumcision.

I'm not aware of any religion that makes FGM mandatory.

I don't know what other religions use them though.
