I don't think you should tell people what to do with their children. About anything, if it's not abusing them. I'll leave it at that. And no, I don't think circumcising is abusive. As someone who was abused as a small child, I find that accusation to be wildly offensive.

My son would be screwed; he is Jewish and was circ'd for religious reasons.

Well, it's not my place to say as I don't have a son or a penis. But I think doing it for religious purposes is lame as the child is forever with that mark of his religion. As a pro-choice country I'm confused as to why Jewish boys don't get the choice to be Jewish.

I think it's ridiculous! I don't think circumcision is abuse. My mom beating me for no reason when i was a child and bruising my ribs was abuse. Just because a child had an issue due to a doctor's negligence, they're outlawing it completely even to those who do it for religious purposes? SMH nobody should say, no you're not allowed to do that for any reason!

Well I don't know, I can see why it's abusive. I mean everyone loves to tell their sad stories around here but I don't see much relevance.

So if your mom had cut off your clit or payed somebody to cut it off for her, would that have been abuse? Or would you find that accusation to be "wildly offensive"?

I hope the US follows in their footsteps. The only person who should be altering body parts for cosmetic reasons is the person who owns the body parts.

I don't see the issue I guess. Males can still decide themselves if they want to be circumcised for their religion when they're adults, which seems a tad bit more meaningful to me.

Sorry, I don't mean to offend. I just feel like every time a debate comes up people try to exchange shock value for substance and it doesn't work with me. You have to actually be making a point.

And I think ear piercing although significantly less traumatic then cutting off a foreskin could be seen as abusive, I don't know if I believe either are. I'm not pro or anti circ.
