Lol. Tristan is HARDLY the feminine spelling. If there were a feminine spelling, it would be Tristyn. Tristan from the story, Tristan & Isolde is spelled with the A. So was Tristan, King Arthur's knight. Both were very masculine men. Hardly feminine. I would think Tristen looked more feminine than Tristan.
