So do I . It's aggrivating as hell. A lot of his school teachers act as if they knew him better than I do just because they had a certain type of diploma that has to do with his type of handicap. I have 18 years personal experience so they can shove it up they're ass =)

Maybe (I know this is going to sound weird since he is a boy) you should have him play with a doll when he's around you and her. He may try to mimic you with the baby. That might be able to help.

Oh wow do I know what you mean. My little sister turned 17 in February and I've worked at a disabled camp since '04. (won't be able to anymore and it breaks my heart.) Yet, people still act like they know so much better because of that damn diploma. First hand experience teaches you sooo much more than a teacher ever can.

Exactly. I mean, it's great that they have this diploma and they have studied different teaching methods. BUT. It's hard to get the best out of teachers who haven't experienced first hand what it's like to take care of a person with a severe disability 24 hours a day/7 days a week. More power to them. . . I would just like a little credibility when I speak to them about what he prefers, and what I prefer (as far as teaching, ect ect.). I mean, I think me and my family would know

Lol, I tried to get him just to practice holding a doll before holding her "No...thats for girls!"

Damn. The only thing I can suggest is keep trying. Keep it slow and keep the baby safe. He should eventually get used to her. I've worked with some very bad tempers at the camp I was at and I thought it'd never work sometimes. A lot of the children I worked with weren't used to being around some many people, but all of them warmed up toward the end. You'll see.
