Since it's not required, most places want you to pay for it.

I send mine to moms morning out and they teach them preschool things and it is much cheaper. I don't think there are any free programs around here at least none that I am aware of.

In my area, the only free preschools available are for migrant workers and immigrants.

There's headstart but you have to fall within the income guidelines of course.

Preschool isn't required so it isn't free.

I would call school districts, there's one near me that does free for 4+, but you pay if they're under 4 or you fall under certain income guidelines (but you apply through a lottery to see if you're chosen).

There's also headstart, and some towns/cities have a child care council that offers tuition assistance for other places.

Yeah, I am currently looking at the public school systems to see if I find any free ones. I found a few public schools that offer it but I want to make sure that they are free.

In NC, you have to be 5 years old by August 31st. She turns 5 in November, so she would go the following year, so she will be turning 6 within the first few months of kindergarten.

My oldest's birthday is in January, so he turned 6 halfway through his kindergarten class this year.

We never did preschool, for numerous reasons, but I made sure I worked with him using workbooks I picked up at Costco to make sure he was ready, and he excelled in his kinder class.
The only thing I wished, is that he got the social experience of preschool, otherwise I felt it unnecessary for us.

That's junior kindergarten, and it's optional.
Although I wished we had that here, as you don't pay for it, do you?
