loss of control

i have a 5 month old son, and up until this past month or so he has been really good at controlling his arm movements and grabbing stuff. but this past month he has not been very good at picking things up or grabbing stuff. he seems to work everything else fine, like his legs and rolling over technique. is it just a phase? or something i need to get checked out?
