28-29 weeks

I was just wondering how your babies did if born at 28-29 weeks. I had pre e with my last baby and delivered at 31 and some days and my daughter did amazing with no complications but I am so worried if this little guy has to come even earlier. So did your 28-29 weekers have long term complications? Brain bleeds? Come home on O2? How long was your nicu stay?

My dd was born 29 weeks. She had no compilations. She stayed for 7 weeks & came home with a heart monitor. After 2 months she didnt need it anymore. Now she is 3 1/2 and you would have never known.

I'm am so worried. I went to the Dr today and my BP was 174/102. Dr wanted to admit me but I didn't have anywhere for my other kids to go so we agreed on doing all the labs and I would come back if they were bad. They all came back OK but with BP like this I don't know how much longer its going to be. I feel a little relieved that your babies did so well. My 31 weeker was only in the nicu for 2 1/2 weeks so I don't know how I'm going to handle a month or two. I got one steroid shot today and I go back for the other one tomorrow. I am hoping to get to 32-34 weeks.

Hopefully he bakes a bit longer for you!

Good luck to you! I hope that baby stay's in longer. It does stink going to the hospital everyday for almost 2 months but you do it & it makes you stronger. & my relationship with my DD is so strong b.c I watched her over come so much in the hospital. But just take it easy and don't over stress your self <3

I had my youngest son at 28.1 weeks. He weighed 2 lbs 11 oz too and was 15 inches. He stayed in the NICU for 69 days. He had to have a hernia and PDA (to close a valve in his heart that is supposed to close when they are born.) surgery. The surgeries slowed him down and he had complications after his PDA surgery. His complications only lasted the night after the surgery and he was fine after that. He came home at 38 weeks gestation and weighed 6 lbs 9 oz when he came home. He just turned 3 in March and is happy and healthy! He didn't have to come home with anything either!
I hope everything goes well for you and baby is able to bake longer for you! Definitely go to the hospital if you get any worse or can find some childcare though! I am not trying to scare you, but I had severe pre-e with my daughter and at 34 weeks, it made my placenta abrupt. I started hemorrhaging and went to the hospital and had already lost my daughter. My bp was at 180/110 when I went to the hospital. I was in the hospital for 2 weeks fighting for my life because it almost killed me as well.

My LO was born at 28 weeks. Weighed 2 lbs 4.8 oz.. He had a hole in his heart that closed without surgery, also some bleeding in his brain that also fixed itself. He cried when he was born (Oct and wasn't intabated untill Halloween when he got pretty sick from a yeast infection in his spinal cord. He olnly had it for about 18 hours. But he had the nasal canula for quite a while. He also had a bit of apnea, but cleared up before he came home. He was also jaundice and had to be under the light for a week or so.... after 11 weeks, he came home Christmas Eve...weighed 5 lbs on the dot.. I was told he would have learning disabilities, hearing and vision problems, be lagging in all sorts of development areas....but He is just perfect! he will be 3 this October, perfect hearing and vision, and is ahead of his peers developmentally (took a bit for him to catch up ,but when he did he blew past everyone). He is still a little small, but his father and I are both on the tiny side, so that could just be genetics.

my daughter was born at 28 weeks and did good in the NICU. No brain bleeds at all thank God. She was there for 81 days and came home on an apnea monitor. She is almost 7 months and still on it but I really don't think she needs it. She was 2lbs 12oz and 14 1/2in

I went to the Dr today for my 2nd steroid shot and my BP was much lower although still high but I'm hoping we can go at least another month or two. I go back Thursday for another BP check and a bpp. And growth scan. I am hoping my little guy is growing well. With my 31 weeker she had iugr caused by some pressures in the cord but up until this point the baby has been measuring right on with normal blood flow.

My youngest daughter was born at 29.6 weeks. She was 2lbs 15onz and did really well. She stayed in the NICU for 6 weeks and came home with no complications, we did have to fortify her breastmilk to 27cal and take her in to have her eyes checked every week for 6 weeks but other than that she did great!!
