Sorry for your loss.

If you're serious about it... I'd try pumping every 2 hours around the clock, day/night, like you would be nursing a newborn. drink tons, and i mean TONS, of water, sometimes eating oatmeal helps, too. there's also that fenugeek (sp?) supplement, and the mother's milk tea.

Sorry for your loss. By the way you are sweet to be doing this. I would suggest pumping a lot. Every two hours like if it was a newborn.

I've been trying to pump as often as I get a chance, which is usually every 3-4 hours. I've also been drinking a ton of water and I drink the mother's milk tea. I plan on getting fenugreek tomorrow.

I feel like I'm doing everything right, but nothing's changing. Maybe I just need to give it more time.

this is what I would suggest as well. You take the fenugreek 3 pills 3 x's a day. I hated the mothers milk tea it smells and taste like licorice and I would gag from the smell/taste..yuck! You can also do a search for breastmilk cookies and it has oatmeal and brewers yeast, etc stuff in it that helps with your supply.

It doesn't happen in an hour. You'll probably have to give it several days, if not several weeks. It's also possible that it's just not going to happen like you think it is. You may get some... but you may not (just hypothetically) end up getting half of what you expect, either.

First, let me say how sorry I am for your loss. I think it's a wonderful thing that you want to donate your milk, and a beautiful tribute to your daughter.

Your best way to increase your milk supply is to just pump, pump, pump. You should be aiming for at least 120 minutes of total pumping per day. If you can do it, try power pumping for 24 hours, which is where you pump for 20 minutes every 2 hours around the clock....that should really help increase your supply. Alternatively, you can pump every 10 minutes for 10 to 15 minutes for 2 to 3 hours straight. Until your supply is well-established, pump at least once between the hours of 1 am and 5 am...that is when your prolactin level is at its highest and you will produce the most milk. After you "power pump" for a day or so, you should be able to switch to pumping every 3 hours for 20 minutes at a time. Pump for the entire 20 minutes, even if you stop getting milk. The suction will tell your body to produce more milk. Once your supply is well-established, you should be able to cut your pumps down to 5 or 6 per day. I am exclusively pumping for my 5-month-old, and I pump 5 times a day. I am not sure how much you want to donate...if it's not a ton, you could probably even cut your pumps down to 3 or 4 per day and still produce a decent amount of milk. I would also recommend Fenugreek, Mother's Milk Tea, Brewer's Yeast and Oatmeal to help with your supply. The best method, however, is just to pump a lot.

Good luck to you!

When I was exclusively pumping for my daughter it took about 5 days for milk to actually come in. Along with that I had to take fenugreek and drink the more milk plus along with having to pump every two hours around the clock. If I went any longer than that I noticed a drop in the amount I would produce next pumping

Everyone seems to hate the taste of the mother's milk, but I love it!
