Seriously considering not going...

I have an appt to get a tooth taken out on Friday. I've read reviews of the dentist I'm going to- not my usual one, I need to see an oral surgeon- and they are mixed. Some had terrible experiences, some had okay experiences. It's in a mall, which makes me a little uneasy- How professional/clean can the place be? I feel like I'm going to some back-alley dentist somewhere in downtown Bangkok. It's not that bad, I'm sure, but still...
I'm afraid of the Novacaine shots and the "pressure." I really wish I could be knocked out or at least go to a more reputable dentist. But it's all medicaid will cover and I can't have gas while pregnant. So, I'm going to have to endure a great amount of pain, anxiety and discomfort and I'm wondering if it'll even be worth it in the end? Why does it have to hurt so much to have good teeth?
In the end, I know I'll go. And I'll have my mom, dad and baby there for encouragement. After the procedure, I'll be a little traumatized, a little bit smurfed up off of Novacaine, but ultimately...a lot better off.

Legally, that office has to be just as clean as anywhere else, although I do think it's a little shady. There are standards and health codes and the city/state/board of medicine/dentistry checks all of that.

As for reviews - 95% of the time I feel like people only write reviews if they've had a bad experience, and I've never met anyone who LOVES the dentist/oral surgeon when they have to have any 'work' done.

It really isn't that bad having a tooth remoed.. at least imo. It's over in like a minute.

Exactly. LOL But I've also never had any issues at the dentist either. Of any kind. I'm 36 years old and I have NEVER had a cavity. I'm sure if I had 15 root canals and fillings I'd probably 'rate' my dentist, too... and I"m sure not well. lol
