He came to us last night at home...what an amazing experience!
Birth story soon to come...but have too many emails to write back. I just have to say that our bodies are amazing things, and we were definitely made to make babies! That and birthing tubs ROCK!
He was born at 11:30pm, 5lb 8oz & 18" long. A little early, but got a 9 on the apgar scoring. I'm in heaven.

UPDATED****
We did it--yaaaay!!!! A very calm, peaceful, homebirth! I had track #1 on the hypnobirthing rainbow relaxation disc (method I used for pain management, hypnobirthing.com for more info) on repeat the whole labor, and let me tell you...it was amazing at helping me relax. I never listened to it during the pregnancy but maybe twice, as I always read that the rainbow relaxation is the one women like to use during labor. For me it was opposite (track one is just birth affirmations). It totally relaxed me! You DO have to surrender your body, and we were made to have babies. I'm still high on endorphins right now. I had a labor inducing acupucture (talked me out of pressure into puncture as it is faster acting) around 10:30am, while I was already contracting steadily all night before. They just felt like menstral cramps. The midwife had come over around 9am and checked me, and I was at 1.75cm & 75% effaced...said that we would have the baby that night---didn't know how she was so sure. Then after my appt, I came home and tried to sleep between contractions since I'd been up all night, but was impossible. By 1pm, John came home from work because I knew this was the real deal..he inflated the tub and filled it up...ahhhh, bliss! The water totally changed EVERYTHING. The midwife came back around 2:30pm, check me and I was around 3cm now, and 90% effaced. Then left as I was in control of myself and comfortable letting her leave--had to take the dog home anyways. Then around 4:30 she came back, and checked me again...4.5cm, and just a little tiny lip in the way of being fully effaced. Half hour later, my water broke in the tub with a gush! That was exciting...I had back labor which was very painful, and I'd say worse than the contractions themselves easily. After that I was so exhausted I didn't think I could make it any longer...and she gave me some herbs for the transitioning phase and checked me...7cm & he was almost ready to come out, but there was the sac around his head possibly stopping things up (trying to pull the placenta along with him). She asked if I wanted her to remove it from his head...I said after the next contractions--she left the room to call the doula to come over as she hadn't been there yet and things started going faster...came back, I was ready to get the sac removed from his head, and she said I jumped to an 8.5 in that short time! Shortly after that I got back in the tub for a little bit, then moved to the birthing stool in front of the couch with John supporting me(sitting on the couch). I decided I needed to pee, so did that in the bathroom real quick and then faced John standing up, with my hands on his legs sort of bent over, but standing and squatting. I breathed him down almost all the way, then gave a few really good pushes & he was out in 20 mins! I received/caught him, and we snuggled in the bed before taking a herbal bath together. I got just a little tear on the upper region, but nothing bothersome. It was an incredible experience! Born at 11:30pm, little 5lb 8oz & 18". Strong little feller! Very calm and not fussy at all.
I'm a mommy!!!!
