Not saying I agree with this, but I do see a pattern with a lot of heavy drug users. First it was marijuana, then it pain killers and then...

It can be, but it depends on the person, if they smoke it for a long period of time, some people tend to want something stronger. I smoked it for 6-7 years straight and became a huge stoner up until I got pregnant and ya I thought about just trying something else, but I promised myself and family I wouldn't touch anything else and I'm proud I never did. It's only a gate way drug if you let it.

I think it can be for some people. But,more than likely they would have tried the other drugs anyway. I've smoked weed for 8 years and have never tried a harder drug. I have no need to. I'm happy with weed,kwim? I'm not a hard drugger,and people who are is because they want to try other things. Not because they smoked a joint.

I've never ever had the desire to snort coke, smoke crack or meth or shoot some heroin. I don't understand why anyone would. I have smoked weed & done shrooms & acid- not a lot just a handful of times when I was younger. It never made me want to go do something harder, if anything it made me think I was a loser & destroying my life haha that's what I think about on that stuff

But there are people who will always crave for an even "higher high."

There's always going to be a percentage of the population that can't handle substances of any kind and will find a way to use/abuse to catastrophic results. The vast majority of everyone I have ever met, has smoked a joint at some point in their lives. Very few of them ever graduated to harder drugs.

Marijuana is not a gateway drug. Some people have highly addictive personalities.

That is very true. Problem is that there are a lot of other variables that can push someone into other drugs. It's difficult to pin pint the exact cause.

But that's their personality, not marijuana that does that.
